family pictures

Last weekend, we went to visit my college roommate and her cute little family.  We grilled, chatted, played, chatted some more and then she took pictures for us!  She has always had a good eye for photography and does it just for fun.  We always love how her pictures turn out.  Here's a few of my favorites:

And no, we did not have a son...that is Tricia's adorable little boy.  He also had a "Boys Rule" shirt on in honor of our three lovely ladies.

Last evening, we finally got a good, soaking rain.  The girls had been outside playing before it rained, so we decided to let them stay out while the rain started coming down hard.  It's not often they get to do this...so we thought it would be fun to let them splash and get wet!

lately

Sorry for the lack if blog posts lately, but we've been playing outside...doing all sorts of summer things!  I feel like I've been soaking in every moment possible this summer because it many ways (like all the way through May), I wasn't even sure if summer would get here!  But here it is...and here we are:

family trip to Lake Superior!

Last week, we all traveled north to Lake Superior.  My parents rented a large cabin around Grand Marais and we were able to have the whole family up there--including my brother and sister, their spouses and niece.  It was a lot of fun to relax, spend time together and sight see.  We haven't traveled very far with all three girls, so this was our first big vacation.  Miriam couldn't believe how big the lake was--but was very bummed that she couldn't swim in it.  I think she enjoyed all the sight seeing the most, but the other two traveled really well, too.  All in all, I do hope this becomes an annual vacation!

On two feet {& playing at the park}

Ella is finally walking!  She has been for a few weeks now...but this comes after taking her first steps three months ago.  She definitely took her time with it.  It's been much easier to be outside, too.  I think she has realized walking is better than scooting!

So here we were last weekend at a park...only one shows her up and walking, but the others are fun too.

I'm glad the girls love to read.  Here we all are the past few nights reading together.  Ella loves to pile on top of us when there's a book around.  She likes to be part of the group!
